Salkantay Trek to Machupicchu 5D/4N
The adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from the guests' hotels with a private bus to Mollepata where the trek will commence. We will move through the Mollepata tropical valley with citrus groves and continue to Choquekiclla, which will show the first glimpses of the southern face of Salkantay and Humantay. The tour will camp in Salkantay Pampa on the first night.
The second day will begin with an early breakfast, then on to the ascent to the Apacheta pass with constant beautiful views of Salkantay and Humantay along the way, in addition to other magnificent geological formations. The trek will continue downward to Huayracpampa and to the campsite at Totora, where guests can revel in the nearby hot springs.
The next day will see an easier hike into the cloud forest of Ceja de Selva and along the river, where participants can witness tropical flora and fauna and even pass under a waterfall. This night the group will camp in La Playa. The hiking on the fourth day will continue through the Lucmabamba pass until the first sighting of Machupicchu from afar. The tour will then descend the Urubamba Valley to arrive at the railway station in the afternoon and board a train to Aguas Calientes. The group will spend the fourth night in a hostel in Aguas Calientes.
On the fifth and final day of the tour, guests will ride a bus from Aguas Calientes up the mountain to the Machupicchu Sanctuary for a guided tour of the ruins. If time allows, guests will have some free time to wander the grounds before an afternoon descent to Aguas Calientes to board the train back to Cusco.
